40 Years of Growth

I would like to begin by saying thank you. To the communities in which we operate, to the employees with whom we have grown and evolved, to the shareholders who have believed in us, to our loyal customers and suppliers, and to the Government and communities where we operate, I say thank you for 40 incredible years. In those years we have successfully overcome many challenges, risen to realise new opportunities and we have maintained a commitment to the quality of our products and services, and to growth. Together, we are the constituent parts of the CMS story, and, for Sarawakians, CMS is far more than a business.

We have become an institution of record and a resource for the State’s development. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, CMS can reflect, with pride, on a legacy of professional integrity, financial prudence and sustainable growth.

CMS was built with the dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence of our employees, management and directors – both past and present. Our story is one of determination, resilience, achievement and vision To Be the PRIDE of Sarawak and Beyond to our four stakeholders, namely: our shareholders, our customers/suppliers, our staff, and our community.

Facilitating Sarawak’s Growth

Sarawak is the largest State in Malaysia comprising 124,450km2 representing 38% of Malaysia’s total land mass. Its long coastline of more than 1,000km is backed up by reserves of oil and gas, and coal, as well as vast hydro energy potential, over 8 million hectares of forests, 1.2 million hectares of palm oil plantation and almost 5 million hectares of arable land and peat land suitable for agriculture.

With Sarawak entering into a new era of growth spearheaded by the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), CMS will continue to play its role to help Sarawak achieve developed State status by 2030 through its investments and businesses in the energy-intensive industry sector and in the infrastructure, construction materials and other services required by the State.
