Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad friendly games 2012

Thursday, 13 December, 2012, Kuching – CMS Friendly Games 2012, in which Cahya Mata Sarawak hosted Governmental agencies and private companies to friendly team matches in football, futsal, badminton, tennis and bowling in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, culminated in a grand way with a Bowling Tournament at Kuching’s Riverside Super Bowl attracting participants from 15 governmental agencies, GLCs and private companies in Sarawak and 3 teams from CMS.

CMS Group Managing Director, Dato’ Richard Curtis officiated at the opening of the tournament in the presence of senior officers of the participating governmental agencies, GLCs and private companies, namely Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Department of Environment, Department of Occupational Safety & Health, Jabatan Kerja Raya, Employees Provident Fund, Kuching Water Board (KWB), Department of Lands & Surveys Sarawak (L&S), Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Customs), Immigration Department, Museum & State Secretary’s Office, Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB), KKB Engineering Bhd, K&N Kenanga Bhd and Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd.

Everyone had a lot of laughs and enjoyed the friendly competition and the tournament ended with lunch and the award of prizes and tokens to all participating teams. The Immigration Department team emerged as the Champions scoring 2,704 points, followed by SEDC in 2nd placing with 2,683 points while the 3rd placing went to KWB with 2,664. The High Game Prize winners were CMS’ own lady bowler, Yee Siew Mei (Ladies category) and Yaman Othman of SEDC for the Men’s category.

Dato’ Richard said CMS had been so overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response to its invitations to participate and by the fun all participants clearly had, that CMS would now make the CMS Friendly Games a regular fixture in the CMS “Doing Good in the Community” calendar. He added that by encouraging more sporting activities, it helps towards a healthier lifestyle as well as fostering more friendly interaction between the public and private sectors.
