CMS Concrete Products welcomes UNIMAS students

Wednesday, 26 January 2011, Kuching: CMS Concrete Products was delighted to host twelve students from UNIMAS yesterday who were on a fact-finding mission on Industrialised Building Systems (IBS).

Headed by Thong Chia Chia, a 3rd year Civil Engineering student, the visit was organized to help the students gain further insight into the IBS construction method and materials which is part of their on-going research on the subject.

A technical briefing was carried out by CMS Concrete Products Technical/ Sales Engineer, Lim Wee Han, followed by a visit around the Plant. The students were shown the various types of reinforced concrete products manufactured by the company.

Numerous questions were raised by the students on the viability, durability and marketability of the pre-fabricated IBS components.

Student Thong concluded that it was a productive and fruitful visit for her team which certainly gathered useful information for their research on IBS.

CMS Concrete Products is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company that currently produces RC square piles, pre-stressed beams, pre-cast box culverts, concrete hollow blocks, cement-sand bricks, ready-mixed concrete and pre-cast IBS components such as CMS Half Slabs for floors and the CMS Eco Wall Panels.

CMS Concrete Products is in the midst of constructing a new plant adjacent to the current site at Jalan Old Airport, Kuching, and is expected to be completed in March 2011. Production at the new factory is targeted for commissioning in April 2011.
