CMS Games 2011 Off To A Colourful Start

Saturday 2 July 2011 Kuching – CMS Games 2011 got off to a colourful, noisy and exciting start this morning marking the beginning of over 3 months of games to be held nearly every weekend to find the Overall Winning House for the CMS Games 2011 Challenge Trophy. This year’s Games involves Kuching-based staff from all SBUs and operations numbering nearly 1,300. Staff have been fairly divided into 8 teams to compete in a series of tournaments in futsal, badminton, bowling, football, the CMS Health Run and more.

In the end, it was the Black team led by Isaac Lugun and Danny Sim with their Haka that won the Best Cheer-leading prize.

Group Managing Director, Dato’ Richard Curtis, and Group Executive Director, Datuk Syed Ahmad Alwee Alsree, did the honours to launch the Games carnival and play a badminton match. After that, the professionals took to the court – badminton was the first of seven sports to be held.

CMS Games returns after a very long hiatus. Group-wide sports carnivals such as football, badminton, bowling and futsal were previously highly anticipated events in the annual staff calendar. These included the CMS Track & Field carnival held in September 2005, Trophy Cahya Football in 2006 and Cahya
