CMSB to showcase cutting edge building materials at Sarbex 2011 Total Living

KUCHING: Homegrown conglomerate giant Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMSB) will be showcasing two advanced construction materials along with its latest offerings in the property development sector at the upcoming Sarawak Builders’ Expo (Sarbex) 2011 Total Living.

Group managing director Dato’ Richard Curtis told The Borneo Post that the group was well known for its construction materials and its construction work.

Via its subsidiary CMS Cement Sdn Bhd (CMS Cement), the group would be featuring Cemplast masonry cement which had excellent workability and was suitable for plastering, bricklaying and other masonry works.

Curtis elaborated, “The masonry cement will get a smoother finish on walls without having to plaster and it can be used externally. The product is available in most parts of the world but not in East Malaysia until we launched it. It is basically a cement with an elasticiser.”

According to him, Cemplast was produced by finely grinding a homogenous blend of specified proportions of clinker, gypsum, plasticising material and an air entraining agent.

It had a high level of water retention, ensuring that it would reduce plastic shrinkage and not stiffen prematurely, thus avoiding hairline shrinkage cracks.

Another CMSB subsidiary CMS Concrete Products Sdn Bhd (CMS Concrete) would be featuring an Integrated Building Solution (IBS) product, the CMS Eco Wall Panel.

The panel was 30 per cent lighter in weight due to its advanced hollow core design and approximately equivalent to 90 pieces of brick and its compressive strength of 25 Newtons per square millimetre made it suitable as a load bearing wall.

It incorporated interlocking tongue and groove joints to ensure a good fit, durability and impermeability to water and its high quality smooth finishing facilitated readiness for various types of finishes.

CMS Cemplast and the CMS IBS Eco Wall Panel can be contacted at 082-334478 and 082-614436 respectively.

The above products will be showcased at the Sarbex 2011 Total Living organised by the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching from September 30 to October 2.
